In 1926, the president of the World Football Federation began the event of the world cup. Jules Rimet was the first person who took the presidency of the world cup in 1921. On this date the first game of the first world cup was performed by kicking off in Pocitos Stadium and during which Mexico was beaten by France with 1 to 4. The first world cup was the only event that did not involve the modern qualifying rounds. During this period, the only European teams that were involved were Romania, France, Yugoslavia and Belgium. In the final 13 for 1930, two teams only remained to complete. These teams were United States and Mexico. For the event the US used a heavily Scottish schedule. However, at the end, Uruguay battled with Argentina for the world cup. They achieved a victory by beating Argentina 4 to 2.
