The Everton team defended its mid fielder Tim Cahill from the controversial goal celebration dedicated to his brother. The incident took place during the match of Everton with the Portsmouth. The match was won by Everton by a of 3-1 score.

The second goal of the team was scored by Cahill and he dedicated the goal to his brother Sean who was in the prison for six long years in January. The imprisonment was imposed upon him as he was accused of intentional grievous bodily harm. The Australian young mid fielder scored the second goal for the team and dedicated it to his brother in a very unusual way. He crossed his wrists copying the posture of being handcuffed.

The spokes person of Everton, Ian Ross defended the young mid fielder by saying that the celebration of the goal made by the player may not be liked by every body but the celebration of a goal is a personal matter and it was actually a personal decision. These celebrations have nothing to do with the team and are completely on the player’s part to decide.

He also added that the player cannot be instructed about what he can do until he stays within the laws of the game and the activity of the player is not resulting in any problem for others. According to the team spokesman Tim is a very sensible and articulate young man and he had well measured the merits and demerits of his action before deciding to do it. The Manchester united boss Sir Alex Ferguson is in deep thoughts about the position of the team in the Champion’s league last eight. The team manager is actually worried about the threat posed to the team by the superb form of Karim Benzema of the Lyon’s. Fifa the football governing body has blocked the proposed 3 million pounds switch of the ranger’s striker Daniel Cousin to Fulham football club.
