Liverpool drowns Inter Milan

The match between Liverpool and Inter Milan was quite slow and none of the teams came up with any early goals. Inter Milan displayed some good defense which restrained Liverpool from scoring any goals.

Marco Materazzi received two yellow cards for the fouls he made on Fernando Torres. He received his first when his heels collided against Torres. He received his second yellow card when he tugged Torres’s jersey. Liverpool was playing with 10 men for a long time. It was very likely that the game would end as a draw. Gerrard and Kuyt had a plan with them. The game turned around when Liverpool players Gerrard and Kuyt made tremendous goals and Inter Milan was left with no time to either throw an equalizer or win the game.

The first goal was scored by Liverpool’s Kuyt in the 85th minute and just a few minutes later Gerrard came down with another goal on Inter Milan. This match was their first leg in the UEFA Champions League. The team has definitely released manager Rafa Benitez off the pressure that was putting him down.

Apart from Materazzis yellow card follow up, Cristian Chivu was also shown the card for tripping Gerrard. However, Ivan Cordoba was taken out of the field after he fell. His fall was very awkward but he had to remain out of the game. The game was decided when Gerrard got the ball on the right corner of the box and the ball went straight for the kill. This was a point of no return for Inter Milan and drowned itself in Liverpool.
