It doesn’t get better than this. The Barclays Premier League is an exciting football league because of the team at the top. But it becomes better because of the fight which goes on at the battle of the table to survive in the league. Relegation haunted football club Fulham has something to celebrate about. Craven cottage was full of celebrations on Monday when Jimmy Bullard’s late goal made Fulham beat Aston Villa in a nail biting match.
Bullard was side lined for the past 16 months because of a knee injury. The injury which he suffered was a big one and even threatened his career. But great players believe in one thing the most, a comeback, and that’s what Jimmy Bullard did. He scored an amazing free kick to give his new manager Roy Hodgson his first win since the time he has replaced the ex-boss Lawrie Sanchez. Villa was leading in the beginning when Aaron Hughes scored a goal in the 68th minute but the score was leveled in the 72nd minute by midfielder Simon Davies. The loss was not the only bad news for Villa but they also had to face an injured player. Gabriel Agbolnhar, the new English recruit got injured during the match.
Jimmy Bullard had already showed his intention when his first kick almost hit the back of the net but was unfortunately deflected over the bar by the Aston Villa goalkeeper. Now Fulham is in a better position but they need to continue this performance if they wish to play in the English Premier League next season.
