Almeria Shocks Real Madrid

It’s not an every day thing when a team which is known for winning the most number of Champion League titles loses to a team like the Indian National side. Yes, this is what happened in the Spanish Premiera on Sunday. Real Madrid was shocked when they lost to Almeria, a not so strong Spanish football club. Real Madrid Boss, Bernd Schuster believes that this shocking defeat proves that the League title still hangs in a balance. League leaders, Real Madrid clashed against Almeria at Estadio de los Juegos Mediterraneos backed up by an eight game winning streak and with a nine point’s advantage over the team second in the league.

This was Real’s third defeat of the season, which should attribute to the goals scored by Juanito and ex-Real Madrid reserve player Alvaro Negredo. Schuster quoted “This loss shows that we cannot take our foot off the pedal, and the league is not won.” Schuster also claimed that his team lacked the killer instinct which is needed to win the game. According to him it might be because of the lack of competition Real Madrid is facing in the league. Real Madrid could have won the game but the Almeria players fought hard and stayed at the top of the game. Schuster also said that his team had several opportunities but they couldn’t take advantage of them. And on top of that Almeria had a very good goalkeeper who made it pretty tough for the Real players to score.
