What has been witnessed on White Heart Lane on the 22nd of January 28, 2008 would be an unforgettable memory for the Spurs. The 9 year old curse which had followed Tottenham was broken on Tuesday when they smashed the Gunners 5 goals to one in the Carling Cup Semi Finals. It was the second leg match and Arsenal and Tottenham had drawn the previous leg at one goal each. It was a shock for the whole world of English Football, when the Gunners were made to look like a bunch of school kids. This was the first defeat of the Gunners in 21 games against their arch rivals. The goals from the Tottenham side were scored by Jermaine Jenas, Robbie keane, Aaron Lennon and Steed Malbranque. But the salt was put on the Arsenal wound when Nicklas Bendtner scored an own goal by nodding a Jenas free kick in his own net.

After the half time Adebayor gave Arsenal something to talk about as he scored the solitary goal from the North London side. The defeat was not the only reason for which the Gunners were disappointed but it was the spat between Bendtner and Adebayor which made things worst for Arsenal. Adebayor head butted Bendtner in the most frustrating minutes of the game. However, Arsene Wenger says that he had almost guessed the outcome of the match when he decided to put the main players on the bench and allowed the second team to play. Whatever it was 22nd January was not a great day for Arsenal.
