Marek Cech to Join the Toons?
The Slovakian defender has shown his interest in joining Newcastle United. Marek Cech who plays for Portuguese football powerhouse Porto has gained enough popularity to go and play in the English Premier League. The defender has become a regular starter for Porto after he showed his defensive skills in the 2005/2006 season which saw Porto lifting two domestic cups. Cech plays primarily in the left-back position and was an impossible target for the Toons prior to his latest departure. However, Cech has made it clear that he is no hurry to leave his current club as he is happy here but also doesn’t deny that he would like to play for Newcastle United.
Born on the 26th of January, 1983 in Czechoslovakia Mark Cech is a professional Slovakian player. He starts for Slovakia as a left wing back and has played with some of the known football clubs in the world. He has also been a member of the Sparta Prague football squad and has also played for Inter Bratislava. That is not it; this 25 year old defender is a part of the Slovakian national football squad for the upcoming UEFA Euro 2008. He has won the Gambrinus Liga in 2004/2005 season and also the Slovakian Cup in 2000/2001.
The Slovakian International claimed recently that he will only leave Porto if a very good offer is kept ahead of him. He even said that Porto is big club and playing for Newcastle would be a pleasure rather than an achievement.
