Martin Laursen, the Aston Villa central defender has ended all speculations regarding his move from Villa. The Danish professional footballer buried all doubts concerning his leaving Aston Villa and has signed a new contract of two and a half years with the English club. The club formally sealed the deal on Saturday on the 19th of January when the Danish international officially signs the new contract to stay with the Midlands club. The defender will now be at Villa Park till the end of the 2009-2010 season. The Denmark international was without a contract in the summers, but was consistently heard as saying that he was happy to be with Aston Villa.

The beginning of his stay at Villa Park wasn’t that great after he made a move from AC Milan for 3 Million Pounds in the year 2004. He was continuously haunted by knee problems for the first three years of his stay at Aston Villa. But presently things have changed for Laursen and he has even scored 6 Barclay Premier League Goals. With his current performance and a brilliant comeback after injury, he has gained the faith of the people and the fans of the club.

On the other hand, the Villa Boss O’Neill who is a big admirer of Jermaine Defoe has distanced himself from the rumors that he had a talk with the Tottenham striker on Wednesday. Anyhow, the reports claim that O’Neill wasn’t even there at Bodymoor Heath on the said day.
