Downing important for Boro: Southgate

Tottenham Hotspurs has recently showed interest in the English midfielder Stewart Downing. Gareth Southgate the Middlesbrough Manger has expressed that he would want the English midfielder to stay with Boro as he is one of the club’s biggest assets. The Spurs Directors wants Downing to come to Tottenham as they believe he could make the difference which the Spurs want. But Gareth Southgate insists that there have not been any bids for the 23 year old winger. Southgate insists that he has already planned about having Downing with them in the future and cannot afford to lose him at this stage of the season at least.
But on the other hand the Middlesbrough manager is stuck with complications regarding his bid to sign the Brazilian striker from Heerenveen. Afonso Alves the Brazilian international has been under Boro’s manager’s consideration for quite sometime now and he wants the striker on his side desperately. But Downing is the one in whom the manager has firm belief. Born on the 22nd of July, 1984 in Middlesbrough Stewart Jason Downing is a natural left footer who loves to swing the ball in from the left midfield. A born footballer grew up playing football in the Middlesbrough football academy and since then life has offered him a lot.
He played in Germany in the World Cup in 2006 and since then Tottenham has had their eyes on him. Nobody knows what happens next except Downing who certainly knows what to do.
