Chelsea won the easy match against the Olympiakos and the match ultimately resulted in Chelsea’s entry into the quarter finals of the Champion’s league. The victory was actually very easy and the play put forward by the other team was not really very competitive and up to the mark for the champion’s league match.
The score of the match was a one sided score of 3-0. Michael Ballack actually headed home the cross of Frank Lampard to set the team on the way to the win. Lampard then doubled the lead of the game from a very close range and that too in the 25th minute. This was after the shot by Chelsea mid fielder Ballack was blocked by the goal keeper of Olympiakos, Antonis Nikopolidis. The goal keeper really did a good job there as the shot was really a very powerful one.
Chelsea carried on taking the lead even after the half time and the third goal was scored by the team after three minutes after the half time. This was done when Salomon Kalou turned in the corner by Lampard. Chelsea though suffered from a blow when their player Petr Cech was out of the game owing to an ankle injury. The replacement was though made very fast, but it did not come to much use of the team. The replacement was Carlo Cudicini.
Overall, the Chelsea players did not find any tough competition in the game and thus, it was an easy game for the players.

The former international football referee Graham Poll said to the media that the foot ball players are far better behaved when they are playing in the European competitions than in the Premier League. In the European matches the players are respectful because they know the fact that they are being refereed to by one of the best referees in Europe. Poll is now going to retire from refereeing. According to the veteran referee the aspect of familiarity actually breeds contempt for the footballers in the Premier League. This happens because the players see the same referees again and again and form some sort of notions about them. The respect quotient is missing then from the attitude of the players.
The veteran referee also mentioned that the recent season of the Champion’s league was actually very disappointing as the players were almost shown red cards in every 17 games, which is a very frequent statistics. Graham Poll also stated that in the Premier League the pressure on the referee is far more intense but the frequency of the red cards in every 12 match is less than the Champion’s league. For referees the maintenance of the regular performances in the Premier League is very difficult. Poll added to the media that finding a consistent level of performance is very difficult when the referees are under constant scrutiny. And it is actually more difficult than nipping off to Spain or Germany every once in a while.

The Shrewsbury town manager Gary Peters left the club by mutual consent with the team members. This was followed by the poor form of the team in the recent matches. The team scored six points from 12 matches and only one of them is in this year. According to the manager everything that is beneficial for the team needs to be done and even if that means his quitting the team, it should be done for good.
The 54 year old town manager has been in charge of the team since about 4 years now. The manager will leave the team on 16th November in the 2nd league. The charge will be taken temporarily by the assistant boss John McMahon. According to Gary Peters the results that the team has shown over the last one year has not been good enough and that is why he prefers to leave the team for the betterment of the team. The best time for Peters was the period of 2006/2007 season. This was the time when Shrewsbury made it to the league to play off the finals which was scheduled at the New Wembley but was finally beaten by the very strong team of the Bristol river side.
The team chairman Roland Wycherley said that it was very difficult on the team’s behalf to agree on this decision keeping in mind the way Gary took the team forward for the long period of time that he was associated with the team.
